Butterflies Suck

Although it aired to positive feedback, "The Wings of a Butterfly" was such a chore for me to write. It was the episode I disliked the most - and I was the one who pitched it. At first I thought it'd be cool because of all the different things an alternate universe episode would allow me to do but in the end it was that aspect that turned me off.

In the end, I didn't like that nothing I did in this episode mattered. For the most part this episode forshadowed the rest of the season and that's all it really did. As much as I'd love to go into details, I'd rather not spoil you.

One thing which was fun was that I got to include the Atauians (originally the Steruc, who you'll see next week :-P). So far, no-one seems to have picked up on the Atauians being back. They were in "I Think, Therefore...".

Anyway, with 1x15 we finished our third quarter. I think it's fantastic, my episode ended the third quarter and another of mine will start the fourth. That's quality entertainment. I think our comeback from our looooonnnnnggggggg hiatus has been excellent. "The Vennix" was an excellent return which also spread out new story branches. "What's In A Name" was a lovely Destiny debut for Harry Martin who provided us with an entertaining stand alone episode.

And of course, "Lonely Echoes". I think I'll take a moment to brag about that. I'm so glad that people loved it, it was the sort of script that made me really love writing. Not only was it enjoyable but it got tones of feedback and that made me smile. And of course, Adrian Curtis, a fan favorite returned with "Belly of the Beast" another of those Malecathi episodes he so often writes.

Overall, the third quarter was fantastic and our second half has been so much stronger than the first, not only because we've learnt the ropes but because of the sort of storytelling you'll notice popping up once the season ends. We've managed to interlink alot of the episodes throughout the season which I really think helps bring the episodes together. It gives it that connected feel that Atlantis and DS9 had.

I'm dying to spoil the fourth quarter for you but Boss would kill me. Just look forward to enjoying Josh's debut episode and Adrian's whumping heavy episode. This is Aaron Percival, signing off.

Long time...

...No see. I know, it's been a while but here I am, back to tell you all about the upcoming episodes of Stargate Destiny. First off, I'd like to appologise for the really long hiatus. It took alot longer than we thought it would to get the episodes done, plus we had other real life commitments and so such. But I'm really happy to say that our third quarter is complete with the 4th well underway.

I thought it'd be nice to come here and tease you about the upcoming episodes. We start back this coming Tuesday with Geoff's episode, The Vennix. I have to say, I'm glad he had troubles with this episode. And by troubles, I mean he couldn't condence the script so you guys are in for a nice 110 page treat on Tuesday.

I'm afraid I can't say much about What's In A Name as I haven't read it all. But I can certainly do some self pimping with Lonely Echoes. I had such a blast writing it. It's heavily character orientated and we even see an old SG-1 friend. Adrian comes back with another Malecathi episode, The Belly of the Beast. Might we be seeing a special Malecathi we saw before in 1x06?

And finally, The Wings of a Butterfly. An interesting episode that is filled to the brim with action. All this and more coming soon, to an internet site near you. :-) I hope you're all excited for this. We certainly are!

Until next time.

Hello

So, you all might be wondering. Who is this Harry Martin that EAG talked about earlier. Well, I am hin, or he is me. Anyways, I am writing two episodes this season for Destiny. The first Episode which is called, "What's in a name" Was not an idea that I pitched. It was what I was given when I joined the crew. The episode story was hammered out once I was given the taks of writing it, but the core of the story stays the same. The second, and final episode I am going to write this season is called "Unsung Hero's," All though I really can't tell you much I will tell you this. It is going to be good. Real good. I pitched the idea orginally as an S2 idea, but we need a light episode in S1, so "Unsung Hero's" was put in S1.

Now, you may wonder who I am not what I write. Well, I am Captain Pash or Harry Martin. There are probably a few other names I would answer, but those two will suffice for now. I was born in Tronto, Canada. (No it is not the capital of Canada). I do currently live in the bush ridden country that is america, but I hav no plans of staying for long.

So, now onto what you people really want. Spoilers. Everyone wants them. So far EAG has done a great job with 1x13, and I am going ot say this it is long real long, at the moment so except a little featurette with deleted scene's because he is going to have kill some stuff even if it is great. Alliances Part 1 is going to be good from the sound of the story so far, and my two eps have some real Pash moments in them. Though please bear with me as I try to get used to how to write these characters. It might take a while, but I will get it.

Anyways, I have ramble on long enough. I hope you enjoyed my spoilers, and the little information I gave you. Untill next time.

Long Time, No Post

Well guys, it's been a while since this blog as updated. But that's only because we've been so busy behind the scenes. Actually, that's a lie. All we've been doing it having a big party. You see Geoff has gone and done the craziest thing. He brought a yaht and you know the international waters laws...anything goes. Well Geoff and Adrian have some crazy hobbies....ok, I lied. The truth is, we are busy behind the season.

The first half of season one has finished. A couple of weeks ago in fact. After a rocky start, we've started to find our bearings and the fans to go with the stories. In fact, we've even managed to make a fan out of Lt. Colonel Ryu Gaia, one of the toughest readers to please. Our second quarter was full of strong episodes, which include fan favorites. It's very evident, to the writers as well as the readers than we're improving and greatly for that matter.

We're currently in our mid-season hiatus, which is giving us the chance to write the next set of episodes before we release them. Don't worry though, we will have some awesome gifts for you while you wait. Can anyone say CG images? Tommy, a fantastic CG artist happened across the site and volunteered to help us out. So far we have an F307 model which is just being touched up, and an Onslaught Cruisers which is in developement. Expect to see some of those soon.

Titles and synopsis' have been released for the 3rd quarter, as well as titles for the 4th quarter. For those who haven't seen them:

111-The Vennix
With the majority of the Destiny's crew trapped on what they had believed to be a paradise planet, the remaining crew onboard the Destiny must find a way to take back the ship. But it is on the planet that the rest of the crew learns a secret about the people who stole the ship.
Written by Geoff Hill

112-What's In A Name

Written by Harry Martin

116-Lifeline

117-Unsung Heroes

118-Orion Twilight

119-Weakness

120-Alliances, Part One

There we are. I think I'll just talk a little about the upcoming episodes. Geoff is finishing off the mid-season 2 parter with "The Vennix". We get introduced into a new enemy, how cool? "What's In A Name" is written by our new staff writer, Harry Martin. He herolds from over at SG Genesis. He's set to write two episodes this season, "What's In A Name" and "Unsung Heroes", an episode which he pitched.

Adrian will be writing "Belly of the Beast", another Malecathi related episode. Adrian seemed to have been labeled out Malecathi guy since he has done some the more popular episodes which revolve around the Malecathi.

I'll be writing two episodes this quarter, both of which I pitched. "Lonely Echoes" is a very character orientated episode. And I mean very. Flashbacks, for two characters. You'll be getting lots of character development in that episode. Also, who can say guest appearance by Richard Dean Anderson? I'm about half way through this episode.

"The Wings of a Butterfly", as been guessed will be an AU episode. I pitched it way back when I first joined the series, and it's gonna be fun, but also quite tricky.

Onto a personal note. Just watched Mr and Mrs Smith which I borrowed off a fabulous and sexy friend. I've become addicted to a series called My Name is Earl. Thats on the "to-buy list". But that's all for now really. Keep reading. Elite Anubis Guard.

PS-Oh and Esquin says hi.

Well...long time

I know, it's been quite a long time since Geoff or I actually posted here. We've been busy with writing and various other things. Don't worry though, I'm back and here to talk. So basically, Destiny has been out for a month and a half now. We're currently in the first quarter hiatus. So before I talk about the new episodes, hows about I talk about the old ones? How do ya think that sounds?

Well "Providence" opened to some varried criticism. Some liked it, some didn't. There has been quite a bit of positive reactions to the episode, but also negative. The negative however is being taken into account as Geoff will be re-released "Providence" (I think) later on during the mid-season hiatus with new edits. "Friendly Fire" followed after. Reactions to this were not many, but good. This episode had some interesting impliciations for Hemmingway and was a nice stand alone episode.

"Behemoth", written by Adrian Curtis was quite a ride of an episode. Reader reaction to this has been amazing. Practically everyone who commented on this loved it. It is IMO the best episode of the first four (Five really). It has the smartest and definetly unpredicatable conclusion to the episode and was also a fantastic episode which showed this is also a ship based series so expect ship episodes.

My episode, "Treasure Trove" was the last to air. I have enjoyed reading the reactions to this, they mostly seem positive. But will we see the Faerek again? Who knows. Just be sure to keep reading.

We (Geoff, Adrian and myself) are all hard at work on our next set of episodes. I am currently somewhere near the end of the 3rd act of "The Farm" which is currently slated for 1x08. It's another dark episode which I am really enjoying writing. Look for another Tenyris/Morgami moment. Adrian is working on "Lost But Not Forgotten". I haven't read much, but from what I read of the outline, it's gonna be an interesting episode.

Geoff's current endevour has me foaming at the mouth. He is currently writing "I Think, Therefore...". It is looking to be his best episode and is a fantastic episode. I really can't wait to read this one in its entirety. Myself and Geoff will also be writing 1x09, "Pathogen", which is now being outlined.

We've also been having problems with the website. Bandwidth problems to be exact. Seems we have more viewers than I thought. Geoff will be upgrading our host soon so we'll have lots more bandwidth. Not only this, but I'll also be able to add new features to the website, including a Wikipedia. Yay.

We've been releasing concept art over the last couple of weeks as well. We've got some really cool artwork for the F308 and the Malecathi. Look for more when the website comes back online. Phil, our concept artist, should be hard at work on a Destiny one now. So look forward for some CG images soon.

Well I guess I'll move onto the personal stuff now. I just finished reading the Season 2 finale of Star Trek Frontiers. That was pretty dam awesome. Quite an amazing series with really awesome ideas. I've also been reading other Trek virtual series such as Discovery. It isn't as good as Frontiers, but it's only been out a couple of weeks and has 2 episodes out (3 if you count the pilot as 2). Don't fret though, I'm not an entire Trekkie, I've also been reading Gods. All these are worth checking out.

I'm just re-reading some Horizon while I wait for them to come back off of the mid-season hiatus. Why am I complaining? Being a fan since the start, I should be used to hiatus' by now. I certainly remember the murderous mid-season hiatus in Season 1, that almost killed my.

Well I think that's it for now. No, actually, I'm going for my college interview tomorrow. I'm applying for a media course, so I've gotta talk down some work of mine from Destiny. Wish me luck.

Until next time, Aaron Percival.

New Website and Forum Online!

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I posted here last, but I figured I would since I'm on break.

I just wanted to let people know that the official Stargate: Destiny website is now online, along with a new forum! The URL for the site is www.stargatedestiny.net and the forum is www.stargatedestiny.net/forum. So, check out the site and register at the forum!

In other news... I recently did an interview regarding SGD at www.sg-universe.net, which is one of the sites where SGD is advertised. It covers a wide range of topics including this season's episodes, the production crew, the enemy of the series and much more. Remember, the premiere for SGD is on the 17th of January!! Dont miss it. We have just about four episodes finished, with another one nearing completion. I personally can't wait. We also recieved word from one Aaron Marshall, who has taken time to compose a main theme for Stargate: Destiny! It is not yet sure when this will be available, but it will most likely be several weeks.

I recently saw King Kong, and I absolutely loved it! It ran a little long, but hey, it's fine. The graphics were just fantastic. All four big movies by Peter Jackson... masterpieces in my book. In SGH things, I recently read episode 2.11 "The Devil to Pay". This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire show as of yet, and I can't wait for the conclusion, "The Chamber". Good series, that Stargate: Horizon is.

I am practically exploding with anticipation for the new episodes of SG-1, SG:A and BSG that will air on January 6th! And in exactly two weeks, season 5 of 24 airs on Fox!!! Gah, this is a great month, especially with the SGD premiere on the 17th and all.

Ok, well, that's all I know. I'll keep you posted,
Geoff

12.01.2005

At last! The Release Schedule!

Well, the big news around Project Stargate Universe and the SGD forums has been the the schedule for the first half of the Stargate: Destiny season one! It is as follows:

17/01/06 - Providence (Movie Length)
24/01/06 - Friendly Fire
31/01/06 - Behemoth
07/02/06 - Treasure Trove

14/02/06 - One Week Hiatus

21/02/06 - Lost, but not Forgotten
28/02/06 - I Think, Therefore…
07/03/06 - The Farm
14/03/06 - Pathogen
21/03/06 - Trouble in Paradise (Part 1 of 2)

So, in just about a month and a half, we will premiere with the episode "Providence", which will be equivalent to a two hour episode, much like SG: Atlantis' "Rising" and SG: Horizon's "Awakening". Just a note, if you haven't already looked at your calendar, episodes of Stargate: Destiny will air on Tuesdays at 6pm GMT, which is 1pm EST and 10am MST.

Our website has been designed, but we wont make it public until about three to four weeks before the premiere. Also, after episode 1.10, there will be a 4-6 week hiatus.

Anyway, I just thought I should bring any readers here up to speed with this announcement.

Geoff

New Crew Members

Well, it's been I while since I posted here last...

Anyway, I thought I might bring you up to speed on what's been going on with our staff lately. As you all know, Terminus left the SGD staff several weeks back, as EAG mentioned in the last article here. But no sooner than he left, did we get another crew member, followed by another! Our first addition to the team is Brian, who is known on the forum as Samuels. He is our newest writer, and will be writing episode 1.06, as well as edit several other episodes. The second addition to the team is Phil, who, on the forum, is known as Disarray. He's our newest concept artist, bringing our art department to two people! His first project is a technical drawing and action shot of one of the fighters that will be seen throughout the series: the F-308 Space Superiority Fighter.

In other news, I recently spoke with Adrian (esquin), and he will be finishing episode 1.04, but doesn't plan to write any more episodes, but would like to stay on the team as an advisor and idea pitcher. EAG will be doing some more work on 1.05 this weekend, and so far, it looks to be a very interesting episode. I myself have been going over 1.01, and have been making some great progress on 1.02. I'm currently on page 53, and I really like how it's turning out!

As far as other, personal things, I recently purchased the DVD of Star Wars: Episode III, and I've watched it about 10 times now :) . Although it will probably mean very little to most of you, I am now sitting concertmaster (first chair) of the orchestra I play in (the Portland Metropolitan Youth Symphony), and I must say, I rather like it. Just think... if I had that position in the New York Philharmonic, I'd be making close to $500,000 a year.

Well, not much else going on, but I must say, that SGD has made tremendous progress over the past few weeks, and currently, we are aiming for a release in early January. Once I finish up 1.02 here, I'll begin on 1.03 (that's a no-brainer), and then we'll have started or finished episodes 1.01 - 1.06!

Well, time for me to be signing off, but until then...

Geoff
